MOLDING DIE FOR FIBER-REINFORCED THERMOPLASTIC RESIN HOLLOW BODY

PURPOSE:To provide the molding die of a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin hollow body capable of forming the fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin hollow body having the orientation angle of long fibers in the axial direction longer than conventional one. CONSTITUTION:A prepreg using a thermoplastic resin as a matrix is interposed between a core 1 and an outer die 2. The core 1 and the prepreg are heated at a temperature higher than the plasticizing temperature of the thermoplastic resin and the core 1 is expanded, thus forming a hollow body 3 between the core 1 and the outer die 2. Since the outer die 2 is composed of a low thermal expansion material having a linear expansion coefficient of 1X10<-6> deg.C or less, the hollow body 3 is easily mold-released after cooling even when the hollow body 3 has a large angle of fibrous orientation and the hollow body 3 has a small quantity of thermal shrinkage.
