Method for the preparation of fibre-reactive formazan dyes by diazotisation of a formyl-protected hydroxyphenylenediamine and coupling with a hydrazone compound, metallisation, elimination of the protective group, and reaction with a halotriazine and optionally subsequently with an amine or a hydroxy compound; and aminophenols as intermediates for the novel process.
