The system (2) has a base frame with guides for guiding the sliding panes (8) which over lap each other at the sides, and comprises a sealing plate (12) in a channel profile of the bottom and top runners (6,6') located at the overlapping zone, which borders the zone with window sash webs. The outside face is sealed with the inside face to prevent water passing through to the inner gap. The sealing plate has a press sealing on its support side which rests on the runners (6,6') and presses against the channel base and flanks. The sealing plate has an abrasion sealing (66) contacting the window sash on its mounting side facing away from the support side. The rectangular outline sealing plate has an appropriate width of clarence of the channel so that it is positively sealed in the channel.
