The vehicle has a fuel tank (1) which is filled with a hydrocarbon fuel (2). An offtake (5) removes hydrocarbon vapour (3), for example when the tank is being filled. The offtake is connected to a catalytic converter (10) with a photocatalytic material (12). This converts the hydrocarbon into carbon dioxide and water in the presence of oxygen, which is also supplied into the catalyst.
