The polycarboxylic acid functionalised polyorganosiloxane (I) contains at least one unit of formula (1).Also claimed is a process for the production of (I) by reaction of an aminofunctionalised polyorganosiloxane of formula (2) and a polycarboxylic acid functionalised compound of formula (3) or (4).
