<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate noise from a cooling fan when a picture is not displayed on a surface to be projected (in a standby mode). <P>SOLUTION: The projection type display device is equipped with a discharge lamp, a picture projection means for displaying the picture to the surface to be projected by using light radiated from the discharge lamp, a power control means for controlling supply power to the discharge lamp, a cooling fan for lowering the temperature of the discharge lamp or the picture projection means and a cooling fan control means for controlling the rotation of the cooling fan. In the device, the rotation of the cooling fan is stopped in a state where the discharge lamp is discharged when the picture is not displayed on the surface to be projected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
