<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover impurities and a metal catalyst from a carboxylic acid-synthesized mother liquor. <P>SOLUTION: This method for recovering the metal catalyst from the mother liquor comprises a step (a) to vaporize the mother liquor containing a carboxylic acid, the metal catalyst, impurities, water and a solvent and produce a vapor stream and a concentrated mother liquor stream in the first vaporizer zone, a step (b) to vaporize the concentrated mother liquor stream and form a solvent-enriched stream and an ultra-concentrated mother liquor stream in the second vaporizer zone, a step (c) to mix a water-solvent solution with the ultra-concentrated mother liquor stream and form a water-soluble mixture in a mixing zone, a step (d) to separate organic impurities from the water-soluble mixture and form a purified water-soluble mixture in a solid-liquid separating zone, as the case may be, a step (e) to add an extractant to the water-soluble mixture or the purified water-soluble mixture and form an extract stream and a raffinate stream in an extraction zone and a step (f) to separate the extract stream and the solvent-enriched stream in a separation zone and form a high boiling point impurity stream and a recovered extractant stream, as the case may be. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
