PURPOSE:To increase airtightness in the periphery of a cell by molding a pair of gas diffusion electrodes and a matrix in one piece with an airtight resin. CONSTITUTION:The periphery of unit cell comprising a pair of gas diffusion electrodes and a matrix arranged between them is molded with resin in one piece. The peripheries of gas diffusion electrodes 1, 2 and a matrix 4 are firmly molded with resin 3 to form a unit cell, and gas leakage from the gas diffusion electrodes is prevented because the resin is airtight. The end of molded resin has the same thickness as a power generating part, and difference in level is not produced between them. When unit cells are stacked together with a separator, poor electrical contact is not produced. Since no gap is produced between the separator and the end of the unit cell, the airtightness of the fuel cell is further increased. |
