<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical axis windmill capable of properly reducing windmill efficiency so as not to lower output of a power generating device so as not to exceed capacity of the power generating device provided on the windmill in the case when wind speed exceeds rated wind speed. <P>SOLUTION: This vertical axis windmill has a blade 1, a support means 2 to support the blade 1, a rotation axis 3 and an energy conversion means 4 to convert rotation of the rotation axis 3 to another energy and is provided with windmill efficiency reduction mechanisms (A1-A8) to reduce the windmill efficiency in the case when inflow wind speed becomes higher than a rated value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
