The pedestrian controlled vehicle has a steering bar (12) with a control bar (22) gripped by the operator. The control bar is linked to the steering bar about a vertical axis (20) and maintains its orientation in all settings of the steering. This can be achieved by parallel side control arms (28,30) linked to the control bar by similar vertical axes. The operator swings the control bar to either side for a simple steering control, without having to move the controls into obstructions when cornering. The stabilising levers can have a wider spacing on the control bar than at the vehicle to impact a slight twisting action on the control bar during steering.
