PURPOSE: To enable an arbitrary system to refer to an arbitrary document in a system wherein plural document preparation systems and reference systems are connected to the same network. CONSTITUTION: As for the system wherein the document preparation systems 13 that can create documents and the document reference systems 17 which can refer to documents created by the document preparation systems 13 through the network are connected to the same network and can communicate with one another, a document location management system 10 which holds document location information of the respective document preparation systems on the network is set; and each document preparation system 13 registers location information on a document and its version number in the document location management system 10 and each document reference system 17 takes the document out of the document preparation system 13 according to the document location information and version number at the document location management system 10. |
