An air purification system which minimizes the consumption of energy while improving air quality efficiently in public facilities, which can be added or annexed to a conventional air conditioning system, or integrated to a previously installed ventilator system, and which includes an air purification apparatus to improve air quality is provided. An air purification system for public facilities comprises: a plurality of inlets and outlets(20) installed on the ceiling inside a room in a predetermined distance to supply and diffuse air into the room or suck air in the room; a duct(30) which is constructed in a sealed mesh structure to connect the inlets and outlets; and columnar air purifiers connected to at least one of the inlets and outlets. The inlets and outlets include: an opening part(21), a diffusion grid(22) formed in the opening part, and a suction/exhaust fan(23) installed alone or together with the diffusion grid. The air purification system further comprises an auxiliary duct(30a) formed on the duct, and adjusting plates(31) installed in the duct and the auxiliary duct. The columnar air purifiers include: a columnar body in which an air passage is formed; a fan installed in an upper part of the body and rotated forward or reversely; an inlet and an outlet installed in a lower part of the body; and an air purifying device installed in the air passage.
