An endoscope has a distal objective and an optical transmission system that transmits the image from the objective to the proximal end and has at least one reversal system. Each reversal system consists of two symmetrical members, of which each member consists of a rod lens with plane faces and of at least one thin optical lens with a plane face. The disclosed endoscope is characterised in that the rod lenses are made of a material with a positive dispersion and a refraction index which is non-homogeneous in the radial direction, and in that the thin optical lenses are plano-convex lenses.
