Method with appliance for investigating mechanical properties of ground for construction industry

The method involves statically loading and unloading a slab (6) placed on the ground (2) using a loading appliance (11). The subsequent settlement of the ground is then measured. The slab is caused to vibrate, and then decoupled, in terms of vibration, from the loading appliance. The plate can vibrate vertically with variable frequency and/or amplitude. Loading and unloading can be in steps in a single or more cycles. Measurements can be taken of the applied load and/or the energy introduced into the ground and also of the static and/or the dynamic changes in the ground or subsoil.
