The invention concerns a process for detecting antibodies from body fluids by an immunoreaction with tissue transglutinase (tTG), with tTG-containing compounds, their antigenic structures, immunoreactive sequences or analogues. The process can be used for diagnostic purposes and therapy control for diseases which are associated with an immunoreaction to tTG, tTG-containing compounds, their antigenic structures, immunoreactive sequences or analogues. The invention also concerns the use of tTG and said substances for diagnostic purposes and therapy control, preferably for the diagnosis and therapy control of chronically inflammatory diseases or autoimmune diseases, more particularly for diagnosing and controlling therapy for sprue or celiac.
