Pharmaceutical multiple unit formulations contain identical or different individual retard pellets which consist of a starter material coated with tramadol or its physiologically tolerable salts and enveloped in one or several membranes of at least one pharmaceutically acceptable, release retarding substance. The multiple unit formulations may be administered as capsules or tablets.
