The silencer consists of a tube (1) with exhaust gas input aperture (2) and output aperture (3). Between these there are two connecting points (4, 5) linked by a bypass tube (6). The difference between the bypass tube length and the tube length between the connecting points corresponds to an uneven number of half wavelengths of the sound to be damped.
