The braking system has a main air container line (42) supplied by a compressed air generator and a main air line (43) supplied by the generator via a train brake valve. At least one compressed air line is fed to each bogie (3) and is connected via a blocking valve, non-return valve (32) and compressed air container (33) to the main air container line (42), which supplies brake valves for acting upon bogie brakes and a control unit for the spring-loaded brake and/or control units for auxiliary equipment. The non-return valve and/or the compressed air container are mounted in the bogie. An Independent claim is also included for a bogie for a railway vehicle.
