A motor which is reduced in external size and ensures satisfactory sizes for a rotor and a winding part, wherein heteropolar permanent magnets (4a, 4b) are installed alternately at the corners of a square, hexagonal, or octagonal box-shaped motor case (1), the rotor (3) is disposed on the inner sides of these permanent magnets (4a, 4b), the rotating shaft (3a) of the rotor (3) is supported pivotally on the motor case (1) and, in addition, the surfaces of the permanent magnets (4a, 4b) opposed to the rotor (3) are formed in an arc-shape so as to uniform a clearance between the surfaces and the rotor (3).
