PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card reader that can detect a skimming device attached inside a card reader.SOLUTION: A card reader 1 comprises: a card passage channel 6 through which a card 2 inserted from an insertion port 3 passages; a shutter member 8 that is adapted to close the card passage channel 6; a magnet head 7 that is arranged on a deeper depth side than the shutter member 8, and reads magnetic data recorded in a magnet stripe 2a of the card 2 or records the magnetic data in the magnetic stripe 2a; and a foreign article detection mechanism 10 that is adapted to detect a foreign article attached in the card passage channel 6. The foreign article detection mechanism 10 is arranged on the deeper depth side than the shutter member 8, and is arranged at a location where the magnetic stripe 2a passages in a width direction of the card 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
