<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which can inform a serviceman or the like of the lifetime of an optical medium detection means appropriately without depending on the dispersion of a light emitting/detecting element itself. <P>SOLUTION: This imaging formation device has an optical medium detection means 2900 which has an optical sensor 2150 to detect whether there is a medium 30 or not, and a light quantity adjusting means 2108 to adjust the light quantity of the optical sensor 2150 into a predetermined light quantity by impressing a predetermined input voltage onto the optical sensor 2150. This image forming device also characteristically has a lifetime forecasting means 2108 to calculate the lifetime parameter value ΔEnd' of the optical medium detection means 2900 from the input voltage after adjustment by the light quantity adjusting means 2108. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
