PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To map an input color signal so as to obtain an output color signal with a small color change and a hue that minimizes a color difference between the input color signals of the same hue. SOLUTION: The gamut conversion processing section 20 comprises a reference color signal calculation section 21, a corresponding color decision section 22, an output hue decision section 23, a mapping processing section 24, gamut data for input device 25, and gamut data for output device 26. When receiving an input color signal Pi, the reference color signal calculation section 21 refers to the gamut data for input device 25, calculates a maximum saturation color of the hue in matching with the hue of the input color signal Pi as a reference color signal T, the corresponding color decision section 22 refers to the gamut data for output device 26 to calculate a corresponding color signal M providing a minimum color difference within a color reproduction range of an output device corresponding to the reference color signal T. The output hue decision section 23 decides a hue h' of an output signal color signal Po based on the corresponding color signal M and the mapping processing section 24 calculates components of the lightness and the saturation and provides an output of the result as the output color signal Po.
