PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology for controlling relation among lift and operation angle, and open and close timing of a valve according to the operation condition of an internal combustion engine with higher degree of flexibility, and for optimizing the same in a variable valve gear. SOLUTION: In the variable valve gear transmitting rotary motion of a drive cam 12a to an oscillation cam 35 via an intermediate roller 36, driving a rocker arm by oscillating the oscillation cam 35, pressing a shaft of a valve by the rocker arm to open and close the valve, and changing the relation among lift, operation angle and open timing of the valve by changing contact position of the intermediate roller 36 to the oscillation cam 35, a contact surface 355 of the oscillation cam 35 to the intermediate roller 36 is divided into a plurality of areas 355a, 355b to make a tendency of change of the relation among lift, operation angle and open timing of the valve corresponding to change of a position of the intermediate roller 36 different.
