<p>1482296 Tufting machine, yarn selection A N SPANEL 20 May 1975 [29 May 1974] 21511/75 Heading D1G Tufts are applied to a backing material L in a tufting machine having bit applying means 14 which receive yarn transported by pneumatic means 40 and a threader tube assembly 12 having a plurality of passageways for delivery strands of yarn to the means 14, by a method including the steps of positioning the means 14 in a loading position, aligning a passageway or ways with the said means and transporting yarn through the tube assembly to the means 14, severing the yarn to leave a bit in the said means 1 applying a tuft to the material L. As shown the reciprocating assembly 12 is pivoted by means 54 under the control of a pattern selection means to align the passage containing the yarn of selected colour with the eye in each of the twin needles 14. Alternatively each needle is provided with a plurality of eyes (102, Fig. 7 not shown) each aligned with a respective passage. A tuft holder 30 is provided between the needles.</p> |
