PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diagonal support device which exerts vibration control effect even on vibration in a frequency band other than a resonance frequency at which a frequency of a seismic acting force and a natural frequency of a building match with each other and produce resonance. SOLUTION: The diagonal support device 6 is formed of: an anchor plate 7 which is fixed to a building structural frame; an arcuate fitting 8 which is formed like a substantialΩas a whole, having a planar press surface 8A and curved portions 8B curved at both edges of the press surface 8A like the ess and an inverted ess, and fixed to the anchor plate 7 by both end portions; a laminated body 9 which is closely pinched by the press surface 8A and the anchor plate 7, and consists of a slide plate 10 and viscoelastic members 11; and a diagonal mounting piece 12 which rises from the press surface 8A or the slide plate 10, and functions to mount an end of a diagonal thereto.
