PURPOSE: An apparatus for displaying the remaining time of a traffic signal light and a method for the same are provided to reduce the manufacturing cost without requiring an additional device. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for displaying the remaining time of a traffic signal light includes a front panel(1) provided with a red light(2) and a green light(3), a separation plate(4), a cell open and close member(10), an emitting diode(11), an input interface(7), a control block(8), an output interface(6) and a rear panel(9). In the apparatus, the separation plate(4) divides the red light(2) and the green light(3) into a plurality of cells. The light from each of the cells are subsequently turned on and off by the control block(8).
