A MECHANICAL METHOD TO SEPARATE COLLAGEN TYPE IV OR SPONGIN A FROM SPONGIN B (SPONGIN SHORT CHAIN COLLAGE) FOUND IN COMMERCIAL SPECIES OF SPONGES

摘要

This method refers to the mechanical separation of two collagen types found in the mesohyl of commercial species of sponges just after harvesting them from the fishing grounds or the sponge farms. The procedure is executed prior to the isolation and purification of the collagen types. The method also refers to the exploitation of dry sponges (or sponge pieces or the residues caused during the sponge processing) through sponging B production. The method targets to the simplification (modification) of the procedures described in several protocols used for the isolation of collagen thus leading to higher efficiency and lower production cost. Finally, the method is focused on the species of sponges to be used, is friendly to the environment due to the reduction of the discards giving also a possibility for their exploitation.
