The present invention refers to a process for determining the geometrical characteristics of teeth in external cylindrical-shaped gears having envelope teeth using conventional measuring tools and applying span measuring concepts as well as measurement between spheres and pins. The present method does not require specialized tools, thus reducing time and cost necessary to determine the teeth geometry in external cylindrical gears; the present method may also be applied in field.
