<p>Sheets of glass for incorporation in vehicle windows are toughened by quenching each glass sheet when hot with a chilling liquid, for example an oil with a low boiling point additive. The heat transfer properties of the chilling liquid are maintained by employing an immersed electrical resistance element to generate an electrical signal indicative of the heat transfer properties, and employing that signal to control supplying of additional liquid to the chilling liquid.</p> |
