PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bis(quaternary ammonium salt) compound having high safety to the environment and the human body which has an excellent antibacterial action to microorganisms such as bacteria, molds, yeast, and algae and high solubility, and can be decomposed to a low toxicity compound by hydrolysis after sterilization treatment. SOLUTION: The bis(quaternary ammonium salt) compound is represented by formula (1).
