PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element having a light shielding film reducing a white point defect generated after a long period of use under a high humidity and high temperature environment, and to provide a light shielding film and a light shielding coating.SOLUTION: An optical element includes a light shielding film prepared in at least a part of external peripheral of the base material. The light shielding film includes: resin; a coloring agent; first inorganic particles having a number average particle diameter of 10 to 50 mn; and second inorganic particles of porosity having a BET specific surface area of 250 m/g to 1200 m/g and number average particle diameters 1.0 to 11.0 μm. The light shielding film contains the second inorganic particle of porosity of 10 to 20 mass% inclusive.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
