PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for driving a plasma display panel are provided to prevent the degradation and the afterimage by removing logo signals from input data or controlling the gain of the input data. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for driving a plasma display panel includes a logo signal detector(24) and a logo signal remover(26). The logo signal detector(24) is used for deciding the presence of logo signals of input data and detecting logo signal data. The logo signal remover(26) is used for removing the logo signal data from input data. The apparatus for driving the plasma display panel further includes a gamma correction block(28A) to perform a gamma correction process for the input data without the logo signal data. The apparatus for driving the plasma display panel further includes a gain controller(30) for controlling a gain of the corrected data and an error diffusion block(32) for diffusing errors of the controlled data. |
