Apparatus for crimping fibres comprises a ring roller (1) of relatively large diameter and an inner roller (4) of relatively small diameter, a nip being defined between the outer surface of the inner roller and the inner surface of the ring roller which rotate at substantially the same linear speed and is characterised in that one or both roller surfaces defining the nip is adapted to control the thickness of a fibre bundle passing therethrough, e.g. by being formed with a groove (6) or being of elastic material. <IMAGE>
