A post has a thin (semi-)rigid rod (14) with an eye (15) for a warp thread (4') and is connected at one end to a movable hook (12) or arch. A traction spring (18) is around some or all the rod between the eye and the hook. The opposite ends (18a, 18b) of the spring are attached to a frame (17) and the end of the rod. Independent claims are included for the following: (a) An assembly forming part of a Jacquard loom includes post(s) as above. (b) An assembly for a Jacquard loom includes post(s) that are a modification of the above post in that the spring is replaced with an elastic returning device urging the post it downwards. (c) A loom including (b). Preferred Features: A tip connects the rod to the hook and the end of the spring is connected to the tip. Alternatively the end of the rod is formed like a hook and an end region of the spring fits over it. The other end of the spring fits over a bush (19) mounted in the frame. The rod passes thru the bush. The rods may be bent so their ends with the hooks are spaced further apart than their other end. Each rod may be in two parts, namely an upper part incuding the hook and sproing and a lower detachable part including the eye.
