<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a moving image without visual sense of incongruity, even though a compression rate is increased and to realize an encoding/decoding system with high encoding efficiency in a moving image motion compensated prediction coding system for dividing an image into segments and searching and encoding a motion vector with each segment as a unit. <P>SOLUTION: This encoding/decoding system is provided with a means for dividing an input signal into basic images obtained by eliminating or attenuating the high-frequency components in an object, while preserving object edges constituting the image and a pattern image which is the difference between the input image and the basic image, and mainly uses the basic image to perform encoding/decoding, preventing a visually significant object boundary from deteriorating. In addition, the encoding system divides one and the same encoded basic image into segments by one and the same method, and obtains one and the same segment, to thereby prevent segment shape information from being transmitted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
