An apparatus and a method for receiving a multiple frequency band are provided. In the method for receiving a multiple frequency band of a terminal is a mobile communication system, respective received signal strengths or respective gains are measured with respect to a signal received via at least one Radio Frequency (RF) chain. Whether multiple frequency band reception that uses a single RF chain is possible is determined using the respective received signal strengths or the respective gains. When the multiple frequency band reception that uses the single RF chain is possible, the multiple frequency band is received using the single RF chain. |

1. A method of a mobile station in a mobile communication system, the method comprising:
measuring strength of a first signal corresponding to a first channel and strength of a second signal corresponding to a second channel, the first signal received through a first radio frequency (RF) chain and the second signal received through a second RF chain, respectively; determining that whether a difference between the strength of the first signal and the strength of the second signal is less than a threshold; if it is determined that the difference between the strength of the first signal and the strength of the second signal is less than the threshold, determining that the multiple frequency band reception is possible via the one of the first RF chain and the second RF chain; and receiving a signal corresponding to the first channel and a signal corresponding to the second channel through the one of the first RF chain and the second RF chain. |
