<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To take controlled gas in a developing casing with inexpensive configuration in order to maintain environment inside the developing casing to be constant. <P>SOLUTION: The controlled gas is made to flow to an area on a more upstream side in the rotating direction of a photoreceptor 13Y than in a developing stage, and a developer layer on a developer carrier 25 is switched to a non-contact state with the developing area of the photoreceptor 13Y during the standby of image formation, and also a gap of G2 between the photoreceptor 13Y and the developing casing 23 is sealed in an area on a more downstream side in the rotating direction of the photoreceptor 13Y than the developing area. Thus, a single channel leading into the casing 23 from the surface of the photoreceptor 13Y is secured during the standby of image formation, and the controlled gas is taken in the casing 23 by the pressure of the controlled gas supplied to the surface area of the photoreceptor 13Y. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
