PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit a burst signal while keeping an optical output power constant by taking secular deterioration in a luminescent medium into account in the case of transmitting the burst signal used for an optical communication system using the luminescent medium. SOLUTION: A luminescent medium 1 is driven by electric energy to emit an optical signal. A drive section 2 drives the luminescent medium 1 with an electric signal based on a data signal. A monitor section 3 monitors the optical signal emitted by the luminescent medium 1. A discrimination section 4 discriminates whether or not a level of the optical signal monitored by the monitor section 3 exceeds a prescribed level. A drive control section 5 controls the electric signal for driving the luminescent medium 1 from the drive section 2 so that power of the optical signal emitted from the luminescent medium 1 is made stable based on the discrimination result by the discrimination section 4. |
