The system for measuring spatial positions, especially by triangulation in which user (B) and reference (R) units are each equipped with ultrasound transmitters and receivers so that signals can be transmitted and received between user and reference units and also between reference and reference units which permits easy calibration. An independent claim is made for: (1) a method for determining the receiving time point of an ultrasound signal; and (2) a method for operating the inventive system.
