<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for managing the correct number of sheets of printed matters by counting only printed matters that are rightly usable as a printed matter when a printed recording medium is jammed in a printer, and for a printing error because of faint color development or the like and even occurrence of a printing error or the like which is caused when a plurality of print recording media are sent to the printer while they are misaligned and overlapped as they are. <P>SOLUTION: A code showing that a printed matter is usable is issued in accordance with the presence/no presence of a printing error. That is, print data including information that can specify a unique identifier is issued, and a code showing that a printed matter obtained by printing the print data is usable is issued in accordance with a print state being the result of printing the print data. Further, the code is issued regardless of the print state when a predetermined time has elapsed. Print data including information that can specify a new unique identifier is issued in accordance with the print state.
