<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method by which a high-quality stable image is obtained over a long term by restraining the occurrence of void at a trailing edge. <P>SOLUTION: In the developing device, a magnetic brush is formed by magnetically attracting developer onto a developing sleeve and made to rub on an opposed latent image carrier so that a latent image on the latent image carrier may be made visible in a rubbing area. In the image forming method, two-component developer consisting of toner and carrier is used. The developing sleeve provided with a developing main magnetic pole consisting of a main magnet and auxiliary magnets adjacent to the main magnet, and set so that a specified condition may be selected for each of flux density in the normal direction of the sleeve, half value width, the damping factor of the flux density in the normal direction and an angular interval between the adjacent magnetic poles, and also provided with a specified recessed part in the major axis direction of the surface of the sleeve is used as the developing sleeve. The toner whose volume average particle size is 4.0 to 7.0μm and whose powder amount having ≤2μm diameter equivalent to circle is ≤20 number % is used as toner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
