The modernisation, automisation and safety method uses communication of information between different trains via a direct or indirect communication link. Preferably the information is transmitted via coded electromagnetic waves and/or sound waves, in a standard language which can be received by track workers. The reception of the information operates an alarm indicating an approaching train.
