An open roof construction for a vehicle having an opening (2) in the fixed roof (1) comprises a stationary part (3) for attachment to the roof, having stationary guide (5) rails on either side of the roof opening and slidable slides (6) with operating mechanisms therein. A closure means (4) supported by the operating mechanisms is adjustable between a closed position in which it closes the roof opening, and an open position in which it releases the roof opening at least partially. Each operating mechanism comprises a curve plate (11) attached to the closure means and having a guide track (10) with which a guide member (9) connected to the slide may engage. The slide (6) includes a height-adjustable part (7) which is equipped with the guide member (9) being in engagement with a further guide track (16) in a curve part (13) connected to the stationary part (3).
