<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide dielectric ceramic which is suitable for composing dielectric ceramic layers of a multilayer ceramic capacitor obtained by firing in a reducing atmosphere, and in which temperature dependency on a dielectric constant is not so deteriorated for the thickness even if thin layered, and which has excellent reliability. <P>SOLUTION: The dielectric ceramic has a composition essentially consisting of ABO<SB>3</SB>(A is Ba or the like, and B is Ti or the like), and comprising rare earth elements and Si. At least a part of the rare earth elements and at least a part of the Si are present as composite compounds 22 including rare earth elements and Si, and different from ABO<SB>3</SB>particles 21 as the essential components.
