A vehicle security status display method and a smart key system using the same are provided to permit a driver to perceive a vehicle security status through a visual unit mounted on a door handle when the driver contacts the door handle to open or close a vehicle door. A smart key system includes a smart key(50), a smart key controller(70), and a door handle unit(60). The smart key is equipped with a first antenna and a second antenna for radio communication, and outputs an authentication signal for opening/closing a vehicle door. The smart key controller performs authentication through the radio communication between a third antenna of the smart key controller and the first antenna of the smart key. The door handle unit includes an unlock sensor(64) outputting an unlock signal for opening the vehicle door to the smart key controller; a lock switch(65) outputting a lock signal for closing the vehicle door to the smart key controller; a display(68) for outputting at least two colors of light; a first antenna connected to the smart key controller to perform radio communication with the second antenna; and a door controller(61) transmitting signals of the unlock sensor and the lock switch to the smart key controller, receiving the vehicle status information from the smart key controller, and displaying the vehicle status through the display. |
