Provided is a non-aqueous electrolyte solution secondary battery, in which the deformation amount of an electrode active material and the spatial volume within a battery are appropriately set and a protection device for a secondary battery operates reliably. The non-aqueous electrolyte solution secondary battery has a positive active material composed of lithiated metal oxide, a negative active material comprising a metal oxide or metal capable of intercalating and deintercalating lithium, and a pressure-sensitive type current breaker, and satisfies the condition of (AxP)/ (A-B-C)>PP, wherein A(cm^3) is the total volume of residual spaces within the battery, P(Mpa) is a pressure within the space, B is a charge expansion volume of the positive active material at a set protection voltage Vp(V), C(cm^3) is a charge expansion volume of the negative active material, and PP(Mpa) is a protection device operation pressure of the pressure-sensitive type current breaker. |
