A method for controlling the program update of each module in a digital broadcasting receiver is provided to search a new application program matching a model number through a searched OTA channel, compare version information about the new application program with version information about application programs stored in a device, and download and update the new application program according to a module, thereby reducing the data capacity, download and update time of an update program provided through the OTA channel to provide a more efficient OTA service. A method for controlling the program update of each module in a digital broadcasting receiver comprises the following steps of: searching for an OTA(Over The Air) channel while scanning a broadcasting frequency band(S11~S13); searching for an update program matching a model number stored in a device in the searched OTA channel; comparing version information about a new application program with the version information about a program divided according to a module in the device if the new application program matching the model number is searched(S14); and downloading a corresponding program and performing an update operation according to the module if the version of the new application program is higher than the version of the program stored in the device(S15~S17). |
