PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high-quality focusing even when a condition or a photographing state of a subject changes in performing focus adjustment of a phase difference detection method.SOLUTION: In an automatic focus adjustment device, setting means sets, on an imaging element, a first range that detects defocus information by a phase difference detection method, and a second range that detects a focus state by a contrast detection method. The second range is set to include the first range. When the second range is in a focusing state by the contrast detection method, control means switches control to a predetermined control for limiting driving of a focus lens in accordance with the defocus information of the first range detected by the phase difference detection method.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12 |
