PURPOSE:A coating agent for seed for seeding into water, showing improved release resistance and collapse resistance to physical impact in transportation and seeding, obtained by blending a main agent such as promotor for rooting and germination, disinfectant, germicide, etc., with a hydraulic binder and a water-insoluble fibrous material. CONSTITUTION:The titled coating agent containing (A) a main agent such as a promotor for rooting and germination (e.g. calcium peroxide), disinfectant, germicide, etc., (B) a hydraulic binder and (C) a water-insoluble fibrous material. One or more selected from silicate lime cement, aluminate lime cement, hemihydrate, anhydrous gypsum and calcined gypsum or a blend of them with a setting promotor is used as the component B and sepiolite, fibrous gypsum, glass cotton, cellulose having several mum - several hundred mum is used as the component C. The amount of the component C blended is 1-30wt%. Since a coating film formed by the coating agent is hardly released, ineffectuality of seed is lessened and the coating agent is effective.
