<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery having a long service life under the high-temperature environment. <P>SOLUTION: This lithium secondary battery is provided with a positive electrode and a negative electrode respectively having an active material for electrochemically reacting with lithium to charge and discharge, a separator for separating both the electrodes from each other, and the lithium ion conductive nonaqueous electrolyte. The negative electrode is formed of a mix layer containing the negative electrode active material and carboxymethyl cellulose or the salt thereof, and a collector for carrying the mix.
